direct vegetable oil heaters
The VO product range of locally manufactured APPLIED HEAT heaters, allows for the direct heating of vegetable oils or palmoline type edible oils. The edible oil is circulated directly through the VO heater at a rapid rate, protecting the fluid from cracking / burning at all times.
These versatile heaters can be typically fired by diesel or paraffin, natural or LPG gas, or heavy furnace fuels. Thermal efficiency on the VO systems is 85%, making it far more efficient than steam or other traditional methods.
The system is used primarily in the snack-food frying industry for potato or corn based products.
Heaters range from 200 KW to 1,500 KW heat outputs.
By heating the oil directly, the costs saving are considerable, both on capital and operating expenditures.
The primary advantage of these heaters is that the use of steam or thermal oil heating, via supplementary indirect heat exchanger can be avoided all together. The heated palmoline is usually discharged straight to the fryer from the heater outlet, and the heater itself performs the flow and temperature control functions for the oil itself. All burner and safety controls are included on the heater. There is also zero risk of indirect heating medium contamination of the edible oil.
